2008 Donkey and Goat - Grenache Rosé - McDowell Valley, Ca

Designated Isabel’s Cuvée, this wine is made from low yielding 90+ year old Grenache Gris vines from Mendocino County. Produced in two separate lots: the first lot pressed whole cluster just after harvest to tank, and after settling, directly to barrel; the second lot de-stemmed, then crushed and left on the skins for three days prior to racking to barrel. The final blend was put together just a short time before bottling. Fermented in barrels using wild yeasts, the wine was aged four months in neutral French cooperage. 168 cases were produced.

Wonderful salmon “think pink” color gets you in the mood. This wine delivers sweet strawberry and floral aromas with an earthy minerality that reminds one of a fine Bandol from the south of France. With a refreshing acidity and good depth, it should pair well with many foods. This is a winner!
